Help us get the word out
We've heard from a lot of our customers about how they recommend Pocket Tunes Radio to their friends and family and we appreciate that immensely. In addition to recommending Pocket Tunes, there are a couple of other things you can do that will help us in the App store. We want to keep enhancing Pocket Tunes so the better we do in the App store, the more new features and enhancements we can add.
Here are a couple of things you can do:
#1: Vote up 5-star reviews on iTunes. Give a thumbs up to any 5 star reviews. The more thumbs up the higher they go on the list of reviews
#2: Write your own 5-star reviews on iTunes. Positive reviews in the iTunes App store always help us. So if you are enjoying Pocket Tunes and have a moment, please pop up a review in the store.
Just click here to jump to the Pocket Tunes page in the iTunes store.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported Pocket Tunes and sent us so many positive comments about our software. If you have already written a positive review in the App store for Pocket Tunes, thank you very very much!! If you haven't yet but plan to, what are you waiting for? :-) And THANK YOU in advance.
As always, if you ever run into a problem using Pocket Tunes or have a suggestion, please contact us in support

NEW Pocket Tunes Update 5.5.4, iOS4 support added, multitasking and more
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that Apple approved our update for iOS4 multitasking so get over to the App store and update to the latest version, 5.5.4, especially if you are using OS4.
The main feature of this update is the support for multitasking. So now any station you can play in Pocket Tunes, you can play in the background. Even subscription channels.
But there is more to that.
- Podcasts can be played in the background, even while the rest of the episode is downloading
- When Pocket Tunes is playing in the background, double press the home button, swipe left to right and you access the media control bar where you can pause/play Pocket Tunes without having to go to the App.
- When Pocket Tunes is playing and the phone is locked, double press the home button to bring up media controls and you can pause/play Pocket Tunes without unlocking the phone
- the last position played sport is remembered even if the podcast or recording is being played in the background.
So that is a few of the things that this update adds. We'll have more to add and tweak going forward.
Check out the new update at http://bit.ly/bcxO7n .

So that's a ample of some, yes some, of the World Cup podcasts in our catalog. Most can be found in the Browse Podcasts -> Sports & Recreation -> Professional group. You can enter a search term like "football" or "Soccer" and see podcasts with those keywords attached to them.

Please contact support if you know of any Podcasts we are missing
The Beautiful Game...on Radio, Pocket Tunes Radio that is.
So it's finally FIFA World Cup 2010 time!!
Now we know most of you football/footie/soccer fans will be trying to catch the games on television. But there may be times you can't get to a TV or your colleagues might not appreciate the 52" Samsung that suddenly sprung up on your desk. So in the interest of convenience or say, stealth (much easier to stuff an earphone discreetly into your ear than explain why you have a TV on your desk) we created this list of stations that MAY carry some of the World Cup games. And also a few podcasts you might want to add to your subscription list.
We say MAY because though all of these stations have indicated they will be carrying various matches on the radio, some may not have the rights to stream them over the internet. Also, some stations may be country restricted so you may not be able to receive them in your country (unless of course the station resides in your country)
Here is what we know as of June 10, 2010. Please contact support if you know of any stations we are missing.
We'll list the country the station or radio group is from and the name of the station or group of stations.
Argentina -> Radio Nacional
Australia -> SBS (no internet stream located at this time)
Brazil -> Radio Bandeirantes
Denmark -> Nova FM
France -> Radio Monte Carlo (RMC)
Germany -> ARD (Let us know if you know which ARD station is streaming the games)
Ireland -> RTE
Italy -> RAI, RTL 102.5
Mexico -> Televisa (let us know if you know specific stations streaming the games)
Panama -> RPC
Portugal -> RTP
Sweden -> SR
United Kingdom -> BBC Radio 5 Live, talkSport
We have created a new Group in the iPhone called "World Cup". Update your catalog to see the new Group. As we find stations carrying games or even frequent updates, we'll add them to that group.
As the World Cup gets underway, we'll update this Blog with more information. Many of the stations do not really say if they will stream live games in audio over the net so it may take some detective work to find games. Feel free to tweet us at our Twitter feed @PocketTunes if you find a station playing a game.

Two new skins added to Pocket Tunes Radio
We just wanted to let you know that we have added two new skins to Pocket Tunes Radio for the iPhone/touch.
Everyone turns a little Irish on March 17th. Here's your chance to turn your iPhone/touch a little Irish. We have a fun new skin that will put a little smile on your face and who knows, maybe give you a little Leprechaun luck as well.
Check out the new St. Patrick's Day skin:

We've also added a beautiful Fourth of July skin. Yes we know July 4th is a while away but isn't it nice to think about summer while we are still dealing with winter? Besides we liked the look of the skin so much we wanted to get it out as soon as possible:
Click on image for larger view.
To purchase a skin, simply tap on "Pocket Tunes" in the "Now Playing screen. Then tap "Get More". Then select the skin you wish to purchase and follow the prompts to complete the purchase. Once complete you are returned to the Now Playing screen. Select the newly downloaded skin to load it into Pocket Tunes.

Major update to scanner feeds
We just wanted to let our iPhone/touch customers know that we have updated the way our catalog works with Radio Reference, the largest scanner site on the net. We have tightened our integration with their catalog to allow for daily updates from their servers.
What this means for Pocket Tunes Radio and Pocket Tunes Scanner customers is faster updates when new feeds are added or exiting feeds are updated. And there isn't anything you need to do other than open Pocket Tunes. It will update your catalog with any changes the first time you open it every day.
We just updated the server so you may find your next (or most recent) update to be a little longer than usual. There was a lot of information changed. Going forward there will not be nearly so many changes each day, so updates will not take as long.
Make sure you update the catalog (http://www.normsoft.com/kb/idx/55/300/article/) and then check the scanner feeds. You just may find something there that you hadn't seen before.
