Navarro Gray, AKA
Cartier; Yung Fette-Ola or Nav-ee, is coming to us by way of
Hackensack, NJ with street ties in Washington Heights, Harlem
NYC and Harvey Illinois. Cartier is a new breed of MC, he
is not only a recording artist, but a producer, a business
professional with a degree in Marketing, and currently he is
going into his 3rd year of law school at Hofstra University
School of Law (where he is Co-President of the Sports and
Entertainment Law Society). Cartier has been rhyming
since middle school, but it was not until 1997, when he moved to
Virginia that he aggressively began promoting himself in the
Tidewater and Northern New Jersey areas.
Over the years
Cartier has participated in a variety of performances that
range from local and surrounding area venues (Justin’s; Speed;
Remy Lounge; China Club; Webster Hall; Sambuca’s; Nolita’s
Tavern; The Pyramid; Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ; John
Harms Theather in Englewood, NJ;) to opening up for "big named"
artists such as: Ludacris, Outkast, and Jay-Z. In November 2000
Cartier heated the stage up for Carl Thomas and Common at
the Hampton University homecoming concert in Virginia. Most
recently he has performed several times at Club Speed in NYC,
made a guest appearance in Staten Island at the Dubb
Magazine/Wheel Concepts Car show and performed at the Social
Club in NYC along side DJ Scribbles.
Cartier just
dropped his second independently self-released album on
Fette-Ola Music titled, Outta-Town Fette-ola,
available now at
www.cartiermusic.com Cartier just completed a video
for “So Many Gals”, which will debut on BET UNCUT in the summer
of 2005. So Keep your ears and eyes to the street. Cartier
was also recognized in the August edition (Volume 16, Number 2)
of Urban Network Magazine in the Mic Check section, where they
reviewed his album, and by BESLA (Black Entertainment Sports Law
Association). Currently Cartier has produced tracks for
artists such as Camron as well as a few other established
artist’s and is actively seeking SCRILLA from the music
industry.
